Three major functions of antioxidant

1. Synergy between antioxidants.
A well-known example is the application of biscinnamyl thiodipropionate (DLTDP) or bisstearyl thiodipropionate (DSTDP) and sterically hindered phenols in the thermal stability of some polymers. Another important example of synergy is the compound effect of sterically hindered phenols and phosphites when improving the melt stability of polyenes.
2. Stability of polymers using chain-breaking antioxidants.
The reaction mechanism of reactive species of antioxidant intervention in chain reaction, namely, segment chain donor mechanism (CB-D) and segment chain acceptor mechanism (CB-A).
3. Stability of high polymer with pre-antioxidant.
Or preventive co-antioxidants can decompose hydroperoxides without forming free radical intermediates, so they can prevent chain branching caused by decomposition of hydroperoxides into free radicals.
