The main advantages of triazine UV absorbers can be summarized in four aspects: broad absorption spectrum, high absorption efficiency, structurally stable with low tendency to precipitate, and low toxicity.
Triazine UV absorbers shows strong absorption for both UVA and UVB, with particularly outstanding performance in the UVB range. Their absorption efficiency far exceeds that of other types of UV absorbers, such as benzotriazoles (e.g., UV-P, UV-234), benzophenones (e.g., UV-531, UV-9), and cyanoacrylates (e.g., UV-3030, UV-3039). Triazine UV absorbers are among the few products with excellent absorption in the UVB band, effectively preventing material degradation under extreme conditions. Because UVB wavelengths are shorter and therefore higher in energy, they often cause severe damage. Triazine products provide strong protection against such harm.
Triazine UV absorbers typically have a molecular weight above 400 Daltons, which is relatively high compared to other UV absorbers. The higher the molecular weight, the better the resistance to migration, making these additives less likely to precipitate during processing and end-use. In addition, due to their inherently stable chemical structure, triazine UV absorbers exhibit excellent thermal resistance, with thermal loss of only about 1% even at temperatures above 300°C. They also resist photodegradation, ensuring long-lasting performance even under prolonged exposure to extreme environments.
