UV stabilizer
Photooxidation is the result of the combined action of light and oxygen, the most important example being the action of sunlight in the presence of oxygen in the air. Photooxidation of polymers and other materials can lead to degradation, discoloration and product failure unless it is prevented or significantly delayed.
Three major categories of UV stabilizer products are available:
UV absorbers (including benzotriazoles and benzophenones)
HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer)
Benzoate
Selecting an appropriate photostabilization system depends on a variety of factors, including material type, end application, material thickness, environment of use, interaction with other components of the system, and performance and cost expectations. A formulated solutions approach is increasingly used, which includes consideration of product form for ease of addition and safety/hygienic requirements.
